The team at MailerLite have contacted their customers warning them about a phishing campaign that is trying to steal login details. The bogus email tries to trick MailerLite users into saying they have had a “higher-than-normal” number of spam complaints, and should visit a link to address the issue.
The webpage the phishers want you visit poses as the MailerLite email marketing platform but, of course, is designed to steal your password.
The danger for businesses who fall for this phishing campaign is that they could inadvertently handle control of their newsletter to cybercriminals – who will exploit it in malicious email campaigns. We’ve seen attacks where criminals have similarly hijacked newsletters that use MailChimp in the past.
Be on your guard folks, and don’t fall for phishing emails from complaints[at]mailerliteapp[dot]com
And, of course, if you use MailerLite make sure that you have enabled 2FA to give your account an extra level of security.
